How to Prep Your 3D Tumbler Sleeve for Perfect Customization

Before you dive into customizing your 3D Tumbler Sleeve, it’s essential to properly clean and prepare the surface to ensure that paint, glitter, or other materials adhere smoothly and last long-term.

1. Clean the Sleeve with Isopropyl Alcohol:

Start by wiping the entire surface of the sleeve with a cloth dampened in isopropyl alcohol. This removes any oils, fingerprints, or dust from handling that could affect the adhesion of paint or glue. Allow the sleeve to dry completely before proceeding.

2. Sanding (Optional):

For certain projects, lightly sanding the sleeve with fine-grit sandpaper can help improve adhesion for paints or adhesives. After sanding, be sure to wipe the surface again with isopropyl alcohol to remove any dust. Be sure to wear proper PPE when sanding anything!

3. Prime if Necessary:

If you’re using certain paints or creating a highly intricate design, priming the sleeve with a base coat of paint or adhesive can help ensure even coverage and better adhesion. This step is particularly useful when applying glitter or heavy decorations.

By taking the time to clean and prepare your sleeve, you’ll set the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting finish for your tumbler designs.
